Iowa backup center Jeff Jenkins hinted at possibly walking away from football following the 2019 season, but it appears he’ll look at other options outside of Iowa City before making that decision.

David Eickholt of 247Sports was able to confirm that former Iowa offensive lineman has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. He spent two seasons with the Hawkeyes.

Jenkins will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next destination, but must sit out for the 2020 season due to NCAA transfer rules, unless he’s granted a waiver. There was no indication of any potential landing spots at this time.

Jenkins was a member of Iowa’s 2018 recruiting class and was a former three-star prospect. He was listed just outside the top 500 players in the cycle, coming in at No. 504 per 247Sports’ Composite rankings. After redshirting in his first year with the Hawkeyes, he competed in two games during the 2019 season.

Iowa ended the 2019 season with a 10-3 record.
