The annual in-state battle between Iowa and Iowa State is typically one decided by only a few plays. But Vegas doesn’t think things will be that close in this year’s contest for the Cy-Hawk Trophy.

According to Vegasinsider.com, Iowa will open as an 18-point favorite over its hated in-state rival as of Sunday afternoon.

The wide margin comes the day after the Hawkeyes trounced Miami (OH) 45-21 while the Cyclones lost to FCS foe Northern Iowa 25-20.

Last year, Iowa claimed the Cy-Hawk Trophy after a 31-17 win over Iowa State. It was the largest margin of victory for either team since the Hawkeyes won 35-7 in 2010. Five of the last nine meetings between the two schools have been decided by six points or fewer. Four of those games have been won by three points or less.

Next Saturday’s match-up will be at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series 41-22.
