Iowa is gearing up for Week 2 on the road coming off the heels of a 24-14 win over Utah State.

Now, it’s time for the Hawkeyes to head to Ames for the Cy-Hawk rivalry matchup against Iowa State. Despite being the road team for this year’s game, Iowa opened the week as a favorite in the rivalry game.

According to Circa Sports, Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes are -4 in the game. The point total in the game was also set at 35.5, a somewhat predictable number for the rivalry series.

While Iowa did lose at home 10-7 a season ago, playing in Ames has been kind to the Hawkeyes in recent history. Iowa has won 5 straight at Iowa State and 6 of the last 7 meetings in Ames. Prior to last year’s loss, the Hawkeyes had won 6 straight overall in the series and have won 10 of the last 14 games.

A key to this year’s game will likely be the health of QB Cade McNamara. He started Week 1 for the Hawkeyes and played well but was clearly not 100% as he continues to deal with a leg injury.

Saturday’s kickoff against Iowa State is set for 3:30 pm ET on FOX.
