Another Hawkeye is moving on to the NFL Draft.
On Monday, offensive lineman Alaric Jackson announced on social media that he will shift his attention to the next level of his football career. Jackson has declared for the 2021 NFL Draft after Iowa’s Music City Bowl game against Missouri was canceled.
Jackson joins a growing list of Iowa players who have declared for the NFL Draft. Recently, receivers Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Brandon Smith announced their intention on pursuing a career at the next level.
Jackson was a redshirt senior in 2020, so a return to Iowa City would’ve been his sixth season with the program.

Jackson has been a veteran along the Iowa offensive line for the past few seasons with the Hawkeyes. He could’ve declared for the NFL Draft after last season, but opted to return for one more year in an attempt to improve his draft stock.
Where he’ll land on draft boards is still up in the air, but he’ll likely be selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, as he continued to play as one of the top linemen in the B1G in 2020.
The Hawkeyes were 6-2 this season.
