Iowa has a long lineage of developing elite defensive back play under DC Phil Parker. The Hawkeyes added another intriguing DB to work with via the 2024 recruiting class.

The commitment came Wednesday night from Rashad Godfrey, a 6-foot-2 and 185-pound cornerback out of Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida. He has been unrated by 247 Sports but received an offer from Iowa in June.

After an official visit with the Hawkeyes, Godfrey was ready to commit to Iow over a group of other offers that included Duke, Boston College, Coastal Carolina, Arkansas State, Western Michigan and Tulane.

“Also want to thanks the whole Armwood coaching staff ! as well as all of my teammates and friends for pushing me and helping me achieve my dreams,” Godfrey wrote in his announcement. “With that being said, I would like to announce I am committing to The University of Iowa!”

Iowa is now up to 18 players in the 2024 recruiting class with the addition of Godfrey. That group was ranked 31st nationally by the 247 Sports Team Composite prior to Godfrey’s announcement.
