Iowa picks up July 4th commitment from 2023 TE out of St. Louis
As fans across the country settle in for the July 4 holiday, Iowa landed a nice win on the recruiting trail.
The news came early Monday afternoon when tight end Zach Ortwerth announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes via social media. A 6-foot-4 and 220 lb. prospect, Ortwerth picked Iowa over competition from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Pittsburgh. He held other B1G offers from Nebraska, Purdue, Indiana and Illinois.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Ortwerth is a 3-star tight end out of St. Louis University HS in St. Louis, Missouri. He’s the No. 16 player out of the state for the class of 2023 and No. 37 TE prospect nationally.
Ortwerth joins an Iowa recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 17 in the country by the team recruiting rankings. He is the lone tight-end prospect currently in the 2023 recruiting class for the Hawkeyes.
