Iowa RB Mekhi Sargent on Iowa's 4-0 run: 'We had to earn it'
Iowa lost to Purdue and Northwestern in October — then the Hawkeyes flipped the calendar.
In November, the Hawkeyes bounced back from those two losses and have run off four-straight wins. Three of those wins have been by 20+ points, over Michigan State, Minnesota and Penn State. The Hawkeyes beat Nebraska last Saturday, 26-20.
Iowa running back Mekhi Sargent has been a key force in the Hawkeyes run, scoring a touchdown in four straight games, and has five overall. Sargent leads the team in touchdowns with seven.
Sargent commented on the Iowa 4-0 run.
“That’s a testament to the hard work we put in,” said Sargent. “It was a bad feeling losing two games out of the jump. We had to learn pretty quickly that nothing will be handed to us. We had to earn it.”
Everything is earned.
