Iowa is entering Week 3 of the season against Nevada while coming off a disappointing showing in the loss to Iowa State. At 1-1, the Hawkeyes have a lot of ground to make up before conference play comes around.

Through 2 games, the Hawkeyes have managed just 14 points scored with 1 touchdown. A key question for Iowa has been the play of quarterback Spencer Petras with the offense.

However, it does not appear changes are coming anytime soon. When Iowa dropped its preliminary depth chart for Week 3, Petras remained locked into the QB1 spot on the depth chart.

Despite Petras’ showing, Alex Padilla – the backup QB – has not been given a shot to show what he can do on the field.

Along with the QB position, it does not appear wide receiver reinforcements are going to be coming around in Week 3. Keagan Johnson and Nico Ragaini were not listed on the depth chart with Alec Wick and Arland Bruce IV the starters listed at receiver.

We’ll see how the offense looks in Week 3, but it feels like the Hawkeyes are already beginning to run out of time. If the offense isn’t turned around in short order, it will be a long campaign for the defending B1G West champs.
