Iowa releases latest results from COVID-19 testing
Iowa has released the latest results from its COVID-19 tests.
On Monday, Iowa’s athletic department announced that 70 COVID-19 tests administered among student-athletes, coaches and staff who are on campus. Of that total, 65 tests were negative and 5 were positive. The tests we conducted between July 27 and August 2.
The university has been testing individuals who have returned to campus since May 29.
“Following the positive test result, protocol established by UI Athletics and medical staff, including contact tracing procedures, is being followed to ensure the safety of all UI Athletics student-athletes and staff,” Iowa said in a statement. “This mandatory protocol also includes isolation for the individuals who test positive, and quarantine for those individuals who might have been exposed to someone with the virus.”
In total, Iowa has administered 603 tests for COVID-19. So far, 32 individuals have tested positive for the virus while 571 have returned negative results.
