Iowa has reshuffled its future non-conference football slate to work in two games against a MAC opponent.

The Hawkeyes were originally scheduled to play Northern Illinois during the 2020 season. Unfortunately, the shortened and conference-only schedule due to COVID eliminated that matchup. The next date for those two teams to play was originally set for 2025.

Now, Iowa will face Northern Illinois in 2026 and in 2029 to fit both originally scheduled games into the schedule. As things currently stand, the Hawkeyes have one non-conference opening on the 2026 schedule and just one non-conference game scheduled for 2027 and 2029.

The one question mark on the future non-conference schedule is that the current Cy-Hawk series between Iowa State is set to expire in 2025. It seems likely that the series will be extended and added to future schedules but has not yet been determined.
