Unbeaten Iowa moves up again in Coaches Poll
The climb continues.
Every single week this season, Iowa has earned more votes in the Coaches Poll. On Sunday, that trend continued.
The Hawkeyes climbed to No. 13 in the top 25 after demolishing No. 20 Northwestern 40-10 on Saturday in Evanston. Kirk Ferentz’s team is 7-0 for the first time since the 2009 Orange Bowl season, which started off 9-0.
Iowa is the lone unbeaten in the B1G West and is in commanding position in the division race heading into the bye week. The B1G season-opening win at Wisconsin gave the Hawkeyes the tie-breaker. As it stands, the Badgers are the only 2-1 team in the West.
The Hawkeyes passed Michigan as the third highest-ranked B1G team in the poll. With the 30-point win, they also bumped Northwestern out of the top 25.
Akrum Wadley was the lone healthy tailback for the Hawkeyes by the end of Saturday’s game. He tied a school record four touchdowns, but that came on the heels of Jordan Canzeri going down with a leg injury in the first half. C.J. Beathard was also banged up with hip and groin injuries.
Iowa will look to get healthy during the bye week.
