ESPN has officially announced Iowa native Ashton Kutcher as the celebrity guest picker for College GameDay in Ames on Saturday.
Only one problem: Kutcher is Hawkeye, not a Cyclone.
Kutcher attended the University of Iowa and grew up in Cedar Rapids. He’s also a noted Iowa fan will certainly be representing the Hawkeyes on Saturday morning.
It’s a bit unorthodox for ESPN to bring in a member of the visiting team’s fan base to serve in the guest picker role. As a result, Iowa State fans are frustrated with the decision.
Here’s some of their reaction:
Waiting for another video to come out telling us we’ve been punk’d @aplusk https://t.co/x6OYkc9FcW

Would you get a Ohio state homer to be guest picker for a Michigan game in Ann Arbor? What exactly were you thinking? Are you looking to get booed out of town?

Iowa has won five consecutive meetings against its in-state rivals. Saturday’s game will mark the first top 10 matchup in the history of the Cy-Hawk rivalry.
The Hawkeyes are coming off of a huge blowout win against Indiana at home in Week 1. Iowa State also picked up a win last weekend, edging out a victory vs. Northern Iowa.
Kick off is at 3:30 p.m. CT.
