Iowa entered the Week 4 game against Penn State as double-digit underdogs. Facing the Nittany Lions in a White Out is never an easy task for any team, but even that does not fully explain the poor performance from the Hawkeyes.

Just how bad has Iowa been offensively? Through 3 quarters, the Hawkeyes have been shut out and the team has just 54 total yards of offense. The team has just 2 first downs and is 1-for-7 on 3rd down tries.

Iowa is also struggling to hold onto the ball with 3 fumbles lost. The Hawkeyes are currently losing the time of possession battle 34:39-to-10:21 as the fourth quarter prepares to start.

Things were so bad that DraftKings dropped Iowa’s live team total to 2.5 points at the midway mark of the third quarter. The live team total dropped all the way to 0.5 — or half a point — with just under 5 minutes left in the third quarter.

It goes without saying, but those numbers are unacceptable, even for an offense playing without Luke Lachey, Kaleb Johnson and Jaziun Patterson. At this point, the issues in that kind of performance go much deeper than anything simply related to the quarterback.
