Coming into Week 10, Iowa was supposed to be the team still in search of an offense with Purdue having a solid offensive start to the season. At the end of Week 10, it was the Hawkeyes that had the last laugh.

Despite playing on the road in West Lafayette, Iowa dialed up a dominant defensive effort that fueled a 24-3 rout of the Boilermakers. The Hawkeyes held Aidan O’Connell to 168 passing yards and a pair of interceptions. Iowa also held Purdue without a touchdown in the win.

Following the game, Iowa took to social media with a well-played troll job. It featured members of Purdue’s staff trying to push the Boilermaker train off the field, a perfect homage to an offense that was quite literally stuck in the mud during the game.

Well played.

While Kaleb Johnson was the offensive star of the Hawkeyes, it was the defense that kept Purdue out of the end zone and under 300 yards of total offense in the win. We’ll see if the Hawkeyes can keep things rolling in Week 11 with the Heartland Trophy on the line vs. Wisconsin.
