Iowa was on the wrong end of multiple controversial calls in the National Championship Game on Sunday afternoon.

The Hawkeyes fell to LSU 102-87 and were unable to keep up with the Tigers’ hot shooting from the field. But there were several questionable calls — including a technical foul on Caitlin Clark — that drew ire from fans and media watching the game.

The technical foul was Clark’s 4th personal of the game, and it came with time still left on the clock in the 3rd quarter. It was a major momentum swing that came shortly after Iowa had cut the deficit to single digits.

Here’s video of Clark’s technical, which was called after she appeared to harmlessly toss the ball behind her back after a play:

Fans and media were also taken aback by the lack of a technical foul for LSU head coach Kim Mulkey, who was often on the court and made contact with an official on at least one occasion.

Iowa’s foul trouble was not limited to Clark. McKenna Warnock was also in foul trouble for much of the game and only played 25 minutes before fouling out. Monika Czinano also fouled out after just 22 minutes of action.
