The Iowa Wave is back with college football’s greatest tradition returning in Week 1! As always, it was a beautiful setting from Kinnick Stadium, and the weather for the season opener made everything look even better.

For those that have missed the Wave, it’s a great chance for the Hawkeyes, opposing teams and fans on either side of the matchup to acknowledge the patients, families and workers inside the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. It has been one of the best and most heartwarming traditions in football since its inception.

Check it out:

As for the game, Iowa is off to a strong start with a 17-3 lead entering halftime. New starting quarterback Cade McNamara is clicking after a touchdown pass on his very first attempt and 2 first-quarter scores for the Hawkeyes.

While Iowa stalled out a bit in the second quarter, McNamara is 13-for-20 at the break for 115 yards. The Hawkeyes also have a couple of drops on very catchable balls thrown by McNamara.

Iowa has 61 rushing yards with Kaleb Johnson producing 40 on 9 carries. There is still a ways to go to finalize a win in Week 1, but the Hawkeyes look like an improved program entering halftime.
