More good news has come out of Iowa City. Wide receiver and return specialist Charlie Jones has decided to come back for one more season with the Hawkeyes.

In a social media post on Thursday, Jones announced that he intends to return to Iowa for the 2022 season. That’s big news for the Hawkeyes, who will have even more experience in the return game and at the wide receiver position for next fall.

Jones appeared in all 14 games for the Hawkeyes during the 2021 season. He was the B1G’s Return Specialist of the Year after an outstanding campaign this fall.

Jones fielded 25 kickoffs for 635 yards and scored 1 touchdown during Iowa’s 10-4 season. He was also responsible for 285 yards on 35 punt returns and caught 21 passes for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns at the receiver position.

Simply put, Jones was a versatile weapon during Iowa’s B1G West title run last fall. Now, he’ll look to replicate his performance by returning to Iowa for another season.

Over the course of his career with the Hawkeyes, Jones has accumulated 924 yards on kickoff returns, 506 yards on punt returns and 718 receiving yards. He’s accounted for 8 touchdowns throughout his time in Iowa City.

This is more good news for Kirk Ferentz as Iowa hopes to defend its division crown in 2022.
