Iowa’s 2-point conversion drought is almost unbelievable

Sometimes, there’s a stat in college football that amazes you. Iowa owns one of those stats.

On Saturday, during Iowa’s rivalry matchup with Iowa State in Ames, the Hawkeyes attempted a two-point conversion after a touchdown, hoping to take a three-point lead in a 15-14 game. But Iowa came up short, failing on the conversion.

That failure brought up an interesting stat. The Hawkeyes have not converted a two-point conversion try since 2016. That’s two full seasons since the Hawkeyes have converted a two-point try. The stat was mentioned on FOX’s broadcast.

Two-point conversions aren’t very popular throughout the course of a season. You may only try a handful over the 12-game regular season. But to go through at least 28 games without converting one two-point conversion? That’s pretty crazy.

Iowa might have to start getting a little more creative the next time it tries a two-point conversion
