Iowa has provided an update on the COVID-19 testing results within the athletic department.

On Monday, Iowa’s athletic department announced that 677 COVID-19 tests had been administered to student-athletes, staff and coaches from Sept. 7 through Sept. 13. The results returned 24 positives with 653 negatives.

Since testing began back on May 29, 2020, the school’s athletic department has conducted 3,711 COVID-19 tests. There have been 221 positive results and one inconclusive test.

“Following the positive test result, protocol established by UI Athletics and medical staff, including contact tracing procedures, is being followed to ensure the safety of all UI Athletics student-athletes and staff,” Iowa said in a statement. “This mandatory protocol also includes isolation for the individuals who test positive, and quarantine for those individuals who might have been exposed to someone with the virus.”

The B1G canceled all fall sports, including college football on Aug. 11.
