Iowa star Keegan Murray is heading to the 2022 NBA Draft. The first-team All-B1G and All-American selection announced his decision on Tuesday with a post on Twitter.

Murray’s announcement comes as no major surprise, as he was considered one of the top players in college basketball through the 2021-22 season. In ESPN’s latest mock draft, the Hawkeye is expected to be a lottery pick, selected with one of the first 10 picks.

Murray posted a lengthy message on Twitter to make his announcement public. While he can retain his college eligibility until he makes a final decision, it’s unlikely that someone with his draft stock will return.

“I’m excited to announce I will be entering my name into the 2022 NBA Draft,” Murray wrote. “Iowa will always be my home and I’m forever grateful to be part of Hawkeye Nation!”

Murray was the leading scorer and rebounder for the Hawkeyes during the 2021-22 season. He averaged 23.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He was also responsible for 1.9 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.

In the B1G Tournament, Murray reset the event record for most points scored in a single tournament at 103. He helped lead the Hawkeyes to a B1G Tournament title and was named the event’s Most Outstanding Player.

Murray spent two seasons at Iowa, making an incredible leap from last season to this year. He tripled his point production and became a more prominent rebounder, as well.
