Keegan Murray is going to be a lottery pick in this year’s NBA Draft. There was no chance he would return to Iowa for the 2022-23 season. His brother, Kris, had a tougher decision to make.

After a few weeks of thought, he’s finally made up his mind.

Kris has announced that he will be returning to Iowa City to suit up for the Hawkeyes again during the 2022-23 season. That’s a huge boost for Fran McCaffery’s squad, which will be losing some of its top talent.

“These past two months have been a tremendous learning process for me! By going through the NBA Draft process, I believe that it will help me in the long run and this coming season at Iowa,” Kris wrote on Twitter. “I could not be more excited to announce that I will be returning to Iowa City next season and I cannot wait to get back to work with my teammates and coaches to play for the best fan base in the world!”

Kris is a 6-foot-8 rising junior for the Hawkeyes. Last year, he averaged 9.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 47.9% from the floor. He reached a double-figure scoring total in 16 contests and scored a season-high 29 points in a win over Indiana.

Iowa is coming off a 26-10 season last year and winning the B1G Tournament title, posting victories over Northwestern, Rutgers, Indiana and Purdue. The Hawkeyes also earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament for a third-straight year.
