Luka Garza is still getting ready for the NBA Draft and hoping to hear his name called early, but he has one more chance to add a piece of hardware following a record-breaking career.
After capturing most of the major awards for the 2020-21 college basketball season, Garza has also been nominated for the 2021 Best College Athlete, Men’s Sports ESPY Award. Though Garza has a shot at winning, he faces stiff competition in a loaded field.
The other players up for the award are Oregon State soccer player Gloire Amanda, Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and Alabama wide receiver and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith. Fans can visit ESPN to cast their vote for who they want to see win. The winner will be announced July 10.
Garza wrapped up his collegiate career as Iowa’s all-time leading scorer and will have his No. 55 jersey retired by the Hawkeyes. Now, he’s preparing for the 2021 NBA Draft and hoping to be selected early when it gets start on July 29.
