Garza clearly worked on his game in the offseason. In Iowa’s opener on Wednesday, he showed off a Dirk Nowitzki-style fade away jumper.
As long as Garza is playing like this, the Hawkeyes will be a contender to make the Final Four. They’re currently ranked No. 5 heading into college basketball’s first weekend.
No other Iowa player had more than six points in the first half. Garza also had a team-high seven rebounds and three blocks before the break.
Stiffer competition is coming for Iowa, as it will face North Carolina on Dec. 8.
