After a pair of top-25 wins, and coming off the high’s of taking yet another Cy-Hawk classic over in-state rival Iowa State in a battle of two top-10’s, this week Iowa plays host to Kent State.

Good rule of thumb, never underestimate a MAC (Mid-American Conference) opponent.

With the wins the Hawkeyes have moved up in the AP Poll to No. 5, and the unranked and non-Power 5 conference opponent can easily result in a loss of focus, if the players are looking in the wrong direction.

Iowa senior offensive lineman Zach VanValkenburg made it clear in a tweet on Tuesday that the Hawkeyes aren’t looking at the rankings, but are focusing on the task at hand — that being beating the Golden Flashes.

Kent State and Iowa will kick off at 2:30 PM at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, on Saturday, Sept. 18.
