Jack Campbell knows that Iowa did not perform up to their standards against South Dakota State. He wants to have a much better showing on Saturday.

Iowa barely beat FCS opponent South Dakota State 7-3. The Hawkeyes couldn’t even score a touchdown, needing 2 safeties and 1 field goal to get the job done.  This time around, Campbell says that Iowa is united in all 3 phases.

Chad Leistikow of the Des Moines Register posted what he said on social media.

“We’re going to go out there and let it rip on Saturday,” said Campbell.

Campbell had 11 total tackles, with 4 solo and 7 assisted, against South Dakota State. He was the team’s leader in tackles last season with 140. Campbell cemented himself as a leader for Iowa after the year he had in 2021.

Iowa will need more of a complete showing against Iowa State, who is coming off of a 42-10 win over Southeast Missouri State. Iowa has won the last 6 meetings in the rivalry.

This statement comes after Campbell discussed fans booing the offense. Kirk Ferentz spoke about why Campbell is such a good leader after showing the team his clip from the interview.

“That’s just a prime example of what Iowa Hawkeye Football is and what we preach in our program,” said Ferentz.
