Jack Nunge nets game-winner as Xavier captures NIT Championship
Jack Nunge’s first season away from Iowa ended in a dramatic game-winner Thursday evening.
After leaving the Hawkeyes following a tumultuous personal year, Nunge landed at Xavier for the 2021-22 season. The Musketeers missed out on the NCAA Tournament but have been playing in the NIT.
Thursday was the NIT Championship with Xavier taking on Texas A&M for the title. Nunge wound providing the clutch bucket late in the game.
With 3 seconds remaining, Nunge hit a turnaround bucket in the lane for the game-winner as Xavier held on, 73-72.

In the win, Nunge provided a key double-double for the Musketeers. He finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 4 assists, 2 steals and a block.
After everything Nunge has been through over the past couple of years, Thursday’s win was a great way to cap a strong season at Xavier.
