Ultimately, Jim Harbaugh couldn’t sway Alaric Jackson.

Despite Michigan’s last-minute offer, Jackson stuck with the team many expected him to choose all along.

Jackson announced his commitment to Iowa on Wednesday, which meant the Hawkeyes landed their top  remaining target.

The three-star offensive tackle is the 56th-rated tackle in the 247sports composite rankings. He had offers from Michigan State and Nebraska, as well.

Jackson took his official visit to Iowa on Jan. 22, which prompted him to end any remaining trips. He had originally scheduled to announce his decision on Monday, but when Michigan gave him a last minute offer, he pushed his announcement back until signing day.

That caused a stir that even got PGA golfer and avid Iowa fan Zach Johnson fired up. He said that he was “fed up with Khakis” for swooping in late.

But in the end, Iowa landed its key target.

The 6-6, 280-pound Detroit native gave Iowa its fourth Michigan native in its 2016 class.
