After a stellar performance in Saturday’s game against Penn State, Iowa linebacker Josey Jewell was named the Bednarik Player of the Week.

Jewell shined in Saturday’s game against the Nittany Lions, recording 16 tackles (11 solo), three tackles for loss and an interception. Despite his efforts, Iowa fell just short of an upset bid.

Jewell was tabbed the B1G co-Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the week, sharing the honor with Michigan’s Chase Winovich. The linebacker has been the B1G and Bednarik Player of the Week twice in the first four weeks of the season.

Iowa is currently 0-1 in B1G play after Saturday’s loss and will travel to East Lansing to play Michigan State in a cross-division matchup.
