The Iowa Hawkeyes got a little thinner in the secondary on Monday, when a junior defensive back announced he was transferring.

The Hawkeyes will be without rising junior Emmanuel “Manny” Rugamba in 2018 and beyond, as he’s decided to leave the school.

As you can see in the post below, Rugamba announced his decision on Twitter on Monday afternoon:

As a non-graduate transfer, Rugamba will have to sit out the 2018 season if he transfers to another FBS program, but he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining when he’s able to play again in 2019.

In two years with the Hawkeyes, Rugamba recorded 55 tackles, two interceptions and eight passes defended. He also forced a fumble and recovered two others.

Where he plays next remains to be seen.
