Kaleb Johnson is having a massive afternoon in the Cy-Hawk rivalry, and Iowa is going to need a few more big plays from its star running back to secure a win.

Already with some big plays to his tally, Johnson gashed Iowa State for his longest carry of the game late in the third quarter. It went for 54 yards and set himself up for a short touchdown run to eventually cap the drive.

So far, Johnson has carries of 26, 27, 37 and 54 yards against the Cyclones.

Johnson is now up to 167 rushing yards on just 12 carries with 2 touchdowns in Week 2. The touchdown made it 19-7 in favor of Iowa, but Iowa State scored one play later to make it 19-14, so the Hawkeyes are not out of the woods yet.

Johnson’s output is already the 2nd-highest single-game total in his Iowa career. He previously rushed for 200 yards in a game against Purdue, but he is within reach of that number against Iowa State with a couple more big plays.
