Kaleb Johnson has been bottled up for most of Friday’s Heroes Game matchup vs. Nebraska. Fortunately, he broke free to open the fourth quarter in a dramatic, game-changing run for Iowa.
The play was officially recorded as a pass with Jackson Stratton setting up a screen to Johnson with a throw behind the line of scrimmage. But the effort on this play was all Johnson as he fought through multiple would-be tacklers.
At one point, 4 different Nebraska defenders got hits on Johnson near the sideline, but he would not go down. He fought through the tackles and would make 2 other defenders miss with swift moves.
Johnson rolled 72 yards on the screen pass for a game-tying score with the extra point knotting things up at 10-all. Check it out:

Johnson needed that touchdown grab to break out because he had been bottled up on the ground. He has just 38 rushing yards against Nebraska on 14 carries, and Iowa was recently stuffed in a goal-line situation and held to a field goal.
Now, with Johnson’s breakaway touchdown, Iowa has new life after trailing 10-0 at halftime. Fans can check out the conclusion on NBC with Iowa and Nebraska in another tight rivalry contest.
