Kaleb Johnson sets Iowa record in Week 13 vs. Maryland
Kaleb Johnson has further etched his way into the Iowa record books, now holding the record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season. That record was formerly held by former Hawkeyes running back Shonn Greene.
Here’s a look that the play that Johnson hit the milestone on against the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, marking his 21st rushing score of the season. He punched it in on a two-yard attempt that the Maryland defense was no match for.
It was not a huge play, but one that made Hawkeyes history. It also furthered the Iowa lead to 10-0 at that point roughly 9 minutes into the first quarter of the action.

Johnson headed into the game with 188 carries for 1,328 yards with 20 touchdowns. He also had 19 receptions for 109 yards and 1 touchdown. That is a huge step in the right direction after he seemed to take a step back in 2023, finishing that season with 463 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. He averaged just 4 yards per carry.
So far in this contest, he totals 109 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 22 carries. The Hawkeyes lead the Terrapins, 13-0 in what has been a tough game for both teams to put points on the scoreboard, but a battle Iowa has won at the halfway point.
