Keegan Murray’s professional basketball career started off with a bang.

Murray suited up for the Sacramento Kings in Saturday night’s California Classic Summer League contest against the Golden State Warriors. The former Iowa standout reminded everyone why he was a top-5 NBA Draft pick. Murray scored 26 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

Kings associate head coach Jordi Fernandez shared high praise of Murray. Fernandez thinks Saturday’s debut is the start of a successful NBA career for Murray, who stood out Saturday night with his 3-point shooting.

Murray also signed his rookie contract with the Kings on Saturday.

“Keegan is an incredibly versatile, well-rounded player with a high basketball IQ,” General Manager Monte McNair said in a release. “He will be a tremendous asset to our team and we are excited to welcome him to the Kings family.”
