Chalk up another award for Desmond King.

The Iowa cornerback already received B1G co-Defensive Player of the Week honors. On Wednesday, he picked up another accolade.

King was named the Jim Thorpe Player of the Week, given to the top performance from a defensive back in college football. The junior had nine tackles and two interceptions in the Hawkeyes’ 10-6 win at No. 19 Wisconsin. His dominance helped the Badgers snap a 10-game home winning streak.

It marked the second time this season in which he recorded a multi-interception game. He accomplished the same feat in the Hawkeyes’ win against Pittsburgh while lined up against preseason All-ACC receiver Tyler Boyd.

King is the first Hawkeye to record multiple multi-interception games in a season since the late Tyler Sash did so in 2009, which was the last time Iowa started a season 5-0.

Currently the B1G leader in interceptions, King is also tied for first in FBS with five picks. The Detroit native leads the conference with nine passes defended.

The Jim Thorpe Award watch list is chosen by a screening committee who compile a list of 30-50 players. The list is not final, and players who have outstanding seasons are added as the season progresses. The Thorpe Award Winner is selected from three finalists and will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, on ESPN.

King and the No. 22-ranked Hawkeyes will look to continue their undefeated start when they host Illinois on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
