Kirk Ferentz recently addressed questions about a potential change at offensive coordinator.

Brian Ferentz, son of Kirk, has been the OC in Iowa City since 2017. During that time, the Hawkeyes have not finished higher than 88th in the nation in yards per game. In 2022, the Hawkeyes slot in at 127th.

Naturally, these struggles have led reporters to question the elder Ferentz on a potential change in the position. However, it does not sound like anyone should expect a move in the near future.

Ferentz noted that he has never made an OC change mid-season. Since taking over as HC in 1999, Ferentz has only employed 3 offensive coordinators. Ken O’Keefe manned the role from 1999-2011 when O’Keefe stepped down to take a job with the Miami Dolphins.

After O’Keefe, Ferentz brought in Greg Davis in 2012. Davis stayed in the role until his retirement at the end of 2016. Brian Ferentz has been in his role since then.

The Hawkeyes are outside of the top 100 in every relevant offensive category. After another loss in Week 8, the Hawkeyes have fallen to 3-4.
