Iowa captured its eighth win of the season against Illinois, and the team will now turn its attention to preparing for Nebraska.

The Hawkeyes are wrapping up yet another successful season under head coach Kirk Ferentz. Unfortunately, a B1G Championship is out of reach, but the team will be playing for a ninth win against the Cornhuskers. With a win, Iowa would reach nine victories for the third time since 2015.

What makes this week’s showdown a bit unique is that the two teams will be preparing with a short week. Thanksgiving is set for Thursday, and the annual Heroes Game between the two teams is set for Friday afternoon.

During his Sunday Conversation, Ferentz touched on the challenges of a short week. He said the coaching staff will need to be careful with what they ask of the team, but the focus will simply be on turning the page as quickly as possible following the win over Illinois.

Hawkeye Sports shared Ferentz’s comments:

“It’s a little tricky with a shorter week. We need to be careful about what we ask the players to do at this point in the season. The bottom line is you turn the page, get back to work on Monday morning and try to get to the game plan as quickly as possible. It’s a road game, a tough environment to play in. Last year was a three-point game that went right down to the wire. I would expect the same challenge this week. Hopefully our guys will do a great job preparing and will be ready to go on Friday.”

The Black Friday contest is set to kick at 2:30 pm EST. It will be broadcast on BTN.
