From 1979-98, Hayden Fry was the head coach at Iowa. Fry was a legendary coach, no matter who you ask. He left that great of a impact upon those he came in contact with.

Kirk Ferentz then became the head coach in 1999 and is still atop the Hawkeye throne. When Fry passed away earlier this week, it hit Hawkeye nation hard.
Ferentz, of course, is one of those who was affected greatly by Fry and the learning of his passing.
Earlier this week, Ferentz sat down and during an interview with Chad Leistikow — a Hawkeye sports columnist — talked about the coaching tree of Fry and how he got hired. Toward the end of the interview, Ferentz got emotional. It was powerful to see.
