Iowa is off to a great start after improving to 4-0 over the weekend, but head coach Kirk Ferentz is confident the Hawkeyes will be underdogs in Week 6.

The underdog label is one that Iowa is more than used to. However, Ferentz is never scared, nor does he run from that label. The Hawkeyes have proven time and again that they do not care about such things and believe they can win any game if they simply execute.

For the trip to Ann Arbor in Week 6, Iowa will actually be the higher-ranked team against Michigan. The Hawkeyes enter ranked No. 14 in the nation while the Wolverines are at No. 19 on the latest AP Poll.

Still, Ferentz knows Jim Harbaugh has a tough squad, and he acknowledged Sunday evening that the Hawkeyes will be the underdogs on the road. Hawkeye Sports shared Ferentz’s comments:

“It’s always exciting to go up there,” Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said Sunday. “It’s always a tough challenge, they always have a tremendous team, they are well-coached. I’m certain we will be the underdogs, so our work is cut out for us.

“We’ll have to play our best game of the season and it is fair to predict it will be a 60-minute game if we are going to be successful.”

Ferentz’s prediction was not wrong. Iowa opened as +7 underdogs on Vegas Insider, but that number has since fallen to +5. Regardless of the line, it sure looks like a great game is on tap in the Big House.
