Hayden Fry was fantastic at Iowa.
Fry, who coached the Hawkeyes from 1979-1998, ended his career with a 143-89-6 overall record. The 143 wins marked a program record up until Saturday afternoon.
Kirk Ferentz, who has been the man in charge at Iowa since 1999, was 143-97 going into the 2018 season opener against Northern Illinois. Ferentz and the Hawkeyes never showed much doubt as to who the better team was, going on to win 33-7.
With the victory, Ferentz got his 144th win, which marks the new record for most wins as a head coach at Iowa.

It’s a great day to be an Iowa Hawkeye.
Ferentz has put together 5 different 10-plus win seasons and has gone a perfect 8-0 in Big Ten play twice during his time in Iowa City.
