One of the B1G’s top tight ends will be on the sideline for at least another week.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz told reporters on Wednesday that George Kittle is out this week when the Hawkeyes travel to Champaign to take on Illinois. The tight end also sat out last Saturday when the Hawkeyes downed Michigan 14-13 at Kinnick Stadium.

Kittle has been hobbled since a mid-October meeting with Purdue. After that contest he was seen with a boot on his right leg and was diagnosed with a foot sprain.

Kittle has the second-most reception yards on the team this season, hauling in 19 catches for 289 yards and two TDs. He posted his best outing against North Dakota State, catching five passes for 110 yards.

For his career, Kittle has 712 receiving yards and eight TDs.

This preseason, Kittle was mentioned on the Mackey Award watch list, an honor that goes to the nation’s top tight end.
