Kirk Ferentz will be down one of his quarterbacks for Iowa’s bowl game vs. Kentucky. The Hawkeyes are playing the Wildcats in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee on Dec. 31.

Spencer Petras left the Nebraska game and was replaced by Alex Padilla. Iowa ended up losing to the Huskers 24-17 in Petras’ absence.

Ferentz stated that Petras is not going to be playing in the Music City Bowl due to the injury requiring surgery. Petras suffered an injury to his throwing arm after taking a sack in the 1st half against Nebraska.

Iowa lost a chance to play for a B1G title with the loss to Nebraska. However, the Hawkeyes are still going to be playing in bowl season. Iowa finished the 2022 season with a 7-5 record after a slow start to the year.

It’ll be interesting to see who Ferentz goes with at QB for the game. Padilla is now in the transfer portal and now Petras won’t be playing.

Stay tuned for more updates heading into the game.
