Both Penn State and Iowa having rough seasons.

But back-to-back wins for Iowa has seemed to resurrect some excitement in Iowa City, and after losses in their first two games by just four points, and one point, respectively, the Hawkeyes have outscored their opponents 84-14 to move their record to 2-2.

For Penn State, a winless first four games has left them at the doorstep of the worst season start in program history. The Hawkeyes haven’t beaten the Nittany Lions in the last decade, and haven’t won in State College since 2009, so history is on Penn State’s side.

But that’s where it stops.

Iowa is playing well, and ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit had some high praise for the Hawkeyes.

“To me, this is about Iowa. Iowa is a great example of a team — this era of ‘what do you have to play for,” said Herbstreit. “They were 0-2, lost two heartbreakers, off the field stories and issues going on, everybody wondering where’s Kirk Ferentz and the last two weeks they’ve looked as good as you can look.”

Iowa and Penn State are scheduled to kick off Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2:30PM in College Station.
