Kris Murray is looking to have a breakout season with Iowa, and he has not disappointed in the early going. He has scored in double-digits every game during Iowa’s 3-0 start, including tying his career-high of 29 points.
That performance included an efficient 10-for-20 shooting night for Murray with a trio of 3-point field goals. Murray rounded out the double-double with 11 rebounds, an assist and a block as the Hawkeyes beat Seton Hall 83-67 in the Gavitt Tipoff Games.
Through the first 3 games of the season, Murray is averaging 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and is shooting 56.4% from the field. After his hot start to the season, Murray explained why he’s not surprised by his recent work.
According to Murray, the 29-point outing against Seton Hall is something he knows “I am capable of doing.” He also said he expects “to play well now” ever since his 29-point performance against Indiana last season.
Kris Murray on his performance last night: It is something that I know I am capable of doing. It wasn’t as surreal as it was against Indiana, because that was my first time doing it. I expect to play well now.
