Iowa forward Kris Murray has decided to test the NBA Draft waters. Murray shared the announcement Thursday on his Twitter account.

Murray says he will maintain his college eligibility, leaving the door open for a return to Iowa.

“The opportunity to get feedback and the experience working out for NBA teams will help me become the best player I can possibly be and take my game to the next level,” Murray writes.

“I have big plans for next year and this experience will help me do that! I appreciate everyone’s support and Go Hawks!”

“We fully support Kris using this opportunity to receive NBA feedback,” Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said in a tweeted statement. “Kris took great strides and really came into his own last season. He is going through this process with a professional approach, and we are excited to see his game grow to another level.”

Murray played in 35 games this past season, making 1 start. He was Iowa’s leading scorer (9.7 ppg) and rebounder (4.3 rpg) off the bench.
