Kris Murray has made it official. The Iowa standout is declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft.

Murray shared the big news on his Twitter account. After 3 seasons with the Hawkeyes, Murray says it is time for the next chapter of his basketball carer.

Murray finished his Iowa career as the only Division I player to average 20+ points, 7+ rebounds, 1+ block and make 65+ 3-pointers in 2023. He earned unanimous first-team All-Big Ten honors as Iowa’s in points (20.2), rebounds (7.9) and blocks (1.2) per game and total 3-pointers made (66). Murray was a consensus third-team All-American for 2022-23.

The Cedar Rapids native became the first Hawkeye in 45 years to total 30+ points and 20+ rebounds in a game when he scored 31 points and grabbed 20 rebounds against Georgia Tech on Nov. 29. The game against the Yellow Jackets made Murray the only NBA, WNBA, or Division I men’s or women’s player in the last 20 years to total 30+ points, 20+ rebounds, 4+ assists, 4+ 3-pointers, and 2+ blocks in a game.

Iowa’s leading scorer in 2022-23, Murray posted double figures in 27 games. He reached 20+ points a team-best 15 times. Murray scored a career-high 32 points on Jan. 1 against Penn State.
