LOOK: Iowa fans are outraged that Rutgers' punter didn't earn B1G Special Teams Player of the Week
Well here’s a new one: Iowa fans are actually so impressed with an opponent’s performance, they are demanding that the B1G give the kid some credit.
On Monday, the B1G announced the weekly conference Player of the Week awards — handing out one for the offensive, defensive, freshman and special teams players that shined in Week 2. Ohio State’s Drue Chrisman was tabbed as the Special Teams Player of the Week, but Hawkeye fans believe it should be Rutgers punter Adam Korsak.
In Rutgers’ 30-0 loss to Iowa on Saturday, Korsak punted the ball 10 times for a total of 476 yards (47.6 yards per punt average). But it was the fact that he pinned the Hawkeyes inside their own 15-yard line so many times throughout the game, that was so impressive. Four of those landed inside the 5-yard line.
Korsak easily should’ve earned at least a share of the honors. And when he didn’t, Hawkeye fans leaped to his defense on Twitter:
Remember the end of Rocky 4, when the Russian crowd was cheering for Rocky? @AdamKorsak won over the hearts of Hawkeye fans everywhere last Saturday when he put on a damn punting clinic.
This was a bad call, Big Ten. pic.twitter.com/JTHM8mi9S3— Brian Fausett (@BFaus) September 9, 2019
Since you obviously missed it @B1Gfootball, here's one of Rutgers P Adam Korsak's FOUR(!) punts inside the 3 against Iowa. Had SIX punts inside the 11 with no touchbacks. It's not too late to correct the blue blood mouth love and give it to the right guy pic.twitter.com/BD03JkjKgi

Rutger's punter had one of the best day's I've ever seen. Pinned Iowa inside their own 5-yard line four times (including a 69 yarder downed at the one), plus once more at the 8 and once more at the 11.

Hell Iowas punter did no worse then this and he was outshined 3 x over by the Rutgers punter. That dude gave Rutgers a punchers chance in the first half

He honestly had an amazing performance though, clearly whoever votes on this wasn’t paying attention

Delete your account. The Rutgers punter was, no joke, easily the MVP of their team in a losing effort. Single handedly kept Iowa from 14-21 points.

Rutger's Korsak should have gotten it and it's not even close. Guy was an artist. -Iowa Fan

Travesty, that kid from Rutgers won it going away.

Apparently they did not review the game the Rutgers punter had. One of the best all time
