Lukas Van Ness has been a key defensive lineman for Iowa each of the past two seasons. Now, the former 3-star prospect is an impressive prospect for the NFL Draft.

On Tuesday, Van Ness made that decision official, declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft after three seasons with the Hawkeyes.

“It has been an absolute honor representing the black and gold these last 3 years,” Van Ness wrote in his statement. “Whether it be on the football field, in school, or in the community I have met so many marvelous people and have built relationships that will last a lifetime. I am beyond blessed for the opportunities that have been given to me and the lessons I have learned during my time at Iowa…

“It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play in the NFL and with that being said I will forego my senior year and declare for the 2023 NFL Draft. I still plan to complete my degree and represent the Hawkeye family in everything I do.”

During the 2022 season, Van Ness finished second on the Hawkeyes with 10 TFL and third on the team with 5.5 sacks. He also posted 8.5 TFL and 7 sacks in 2021 and has 69 career tackles.

Best of luck to Van Ness as he makes the jump to the NFL!
