Iowa junior tight end Luke Lachey had a pair of pivotal catches on the Hawkeyes’ scoring drive to extend their lead to 24-6 early in the 4th quarter against Utah State.

Lachey started things off with an acrobatic 31-yard catch to convert a 3rd and 12 to get Iowa into Aggie territory.

And then, on an another 3rd and long play, Lachey came up with a 15-yard grab to keep the drive alive. The catch was originally ruled incomplete but was overturned upon review. The Hawkeyes closed out the drive on the ground, but Lachey played a key role in moving the ball down the field and sparking the offense.

Lachey recorded 398 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2022 and is expected to step up and join an elite Hawkeye tight end lineage this season, one that includes the likes of Dallas Clark, George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Noah Fant, Sam LaPorta and more.

With less than 4 minutes remaining, Lachey had 7 catches for 73 yards.
