Luke Lachey is running it back for another season with Iowa.

Lachey has not played since the Western Michigan game, where he injured his right ankle. The latest standout Iowa tight end is going to be back in Iowa City for another season, however. Lachey hadn’t missed very many games before his latest injury. He redshirted in 2020 and then played in 26 games from 2021-2022.

Iowa has produced tight ends like George Kittle and T.J. Hockenson in the past. Many fans have dubbed the Hawkeyes as “TE U” because of it. The most recent TE to come out of Iowa City was Sam LaPorta. LaPorta is having a solid rookie campaign with the Detroit Lions, accounting for 776 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns so far.

Hawkeye fans will feel good knowing that the TE position will be manned by a veteran like Lachey next year. Iowa takes on Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl to end the 2023 season on Saturday.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on ABC.
