Make it count: First NFL catch is a TD for former Iowa TE Shaun Beyer
Shaun Beyer’s first catch in the NFL was a significant one.
On Saturday night, Beyer hauled in his first reception as a member of the Denver Broncos. He turned that catch into an 11-yard touchdown grab, his first in the league. The former Hawkeyes tight end had to race to the corner and dive into the end zone to get across the goal line.
Beyer’s touchdown catch was the final one of the night, giving the Broncos a 30-3 lead over the Seattle Seahawks. Below is his memorable moment from Saturday night:

Beyer played in Denver’s first preseason game but did not record any statistics. He was targeted just once in that contest. His 11-yard touchdown catch was his only reception of the night.
Beyer was not selected in the NFL Draft but was picked up by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent. He played in all 8 games for Iowa in 2020 and finished the season with 11 catches for 158 yards and a touchdown.
In his four years with the Hawkeyes, Beyer appeared in 35 career games and was responsible for 275 receiving yards and a touchdown on 18 catches.
